History of the Spur Inn

The current Spur Inn was built in 1914 by Robert Forbis.

Mr. Forbis’ family moved to Spur in 1909.  He built his family a house on Hill street so his children would have a place to live and go to school since his ranch was in the northern part of Dickens County and there was no school in that area.

Several families have owned the Hill street house through the years and at one time, when it was vacant for several years, all the kids in town called it the haunted house.

Jim and I bought the house on August 12th, 1996.  It was quite an undertaking for us to get the house back to its original condition and making it livable one more time.  We decided we would make a Bed and Breakfast for all to enjoy its history and comforts.  It has been so good for us and our Guests have been just great.

Thank you for visiting our web site and we welcome your visit to our Inn and Guest House

Sincerely,

Jim and Jewell Holder
